Waikanae Health is owned and managed by 6 partners: Dr. John Clarke,  Dr. Jared Cook, Dr. Andrew Edwards, Dr. Dermot O’Connor,  Dr. Romain Kuhm and Dr. Herman van Kradenburg. The Business Manager is Diane Leyten. Waikanae Health also employs 7 associate Doctors, 2 Registrars and 14 Nurses plus administration and support staff. We are a long established Health Centre in Waikanae and provide quality health care  to over 11,000 patients including 5 large Retirement facilities in Waikanae and the surrounding area.   In addition to regular General Practice we provide many specialist services, including  Occupational Health.  We are pleased to be able to provide Occupational Health services for companies in the local area.   At the south end of the Health Centre is the Waikanae Specialist Medical Centre where visiting Specialists from Wellington and the Hutt Valley hold clinics on a regular basis.   Afterhours Telephone 04 293.6005.  When Waikanae Health is closed your call will be forwarded to a Triage Nurse who will be able to offer advice and if necessary contact the after hours doctor on call. A Doctor is available on call until 10pm each night. Emergencies Telephone us directly on 04 293.6002 at any time. This line is answered promptly during surgery and after hours and will connect you to the medical staff on call.  The doctors are able to deal with accidents, trauma and medical emergencies.   Staff Meeting On the last Wednesday of each month our main centre in Marae Lane opens at 9.30am and our beach clinic opens at 10am to allow for our monthly full staff meeting. Cornerstone Accreditation In February 2015 we achieved our Cornerstone re-accreditation for the third time. Read more about  Cornerstone Accreditation and what it means. The New Health and Safety at Work Act is in place and it is more important than ever to be aware of any Health and Safety issues that may have an impact on your team or your business. Our Occupational Health Doctor and Nurses are already working with local businesses to check the general health and work related health risks of workers such as hearing, vision, lung function and skin exposure. Ear Health Clinics Our specially trained Nurses perform ear suctioning for the safe removal of wax and debris from the ear canal under microscope. We have up to 3 clinics each week. Appointments are essential, phone reception to make a booking.
Satellite Clinic Our new satellite clinic opened at 43 Te Moana Road on Monday 23rd April 2018.  Click here to read more. Free Ear Check Clinics Free ear check clinic every Tuesday. Book on-line through Manage My Health or phone 04 293 6005 for an appointment.  This is a 5 minute check with the Nurse, if treatment is required an ear suction appointment or Doctors  appointment may be necessary. Flu vaccinations Flu vaccinations are available now. Fully funded for people over 65 years, or with diabetes, respiratory, renal or cardiac disease, a malignancy and for pregnant women.       Zostavax (The Shingles Vaccine) From April 1st 2018, one dose of the vaccine will be funded for patients aged 65 years, with a 2 year catch-up programme for those aged 66 to 80 years. Clinics for the Zostavax vaccine open on June 5th. Please ring for an appointment. Health Care Home A new model of health care called Health Care Home is currently being rolled out all over New Zealand. Manage My Health - The On-line Patient Portal Manage My Health, on-line access to your own medical records through a secure patient portal. We now have over 2700 patients enjoying the benefits. Click here to read more.   I would really like to see my own Doctor when I'm acutely unwell We have changed the way we triage (prioritise) our acutely unwell patients. If you are acutely unwell and phone us between 8am and 9am, you will be able to speak to a Doctor that morning, (your Doctor if he/she is available) or a Nurse. A same day appointment will be arranged if required. If your issue can be resolved with a telephone consultation, a half price fee will apply. If a consult or a prescription is necessary, the usual fee will apply.  This is a new Health Care Home initiative. Click here to see what else is new. Measles Measles is a highly contagious disease that effects both adults and children. It s easily preventable, just 2 doses of the vaccine will protect you, your family and your community. If you were born after 1968 or you are planning to travel overseas check with your Doctor to ensure you are fully immunised.  The vaccine is free. See our Blogspot for more information.
