Our Nurses  

Bael Bonnington

Gael

Gael trained as a Registered Nurse in Wanganui in the final hospital-based class through the Wanganui Nursing School. She has been a Practice Nurse since 1989, most of which has been at Waikanae Health. Gael enjoys the mix of patients she sees here with both acute and chronic conditions. Outside of work Gael enjoys the lovely Kapiti Coast, walking the beaches, fishing, boating and reading. During her time here, Gael has had time out to have her 2 lovely daughters who are now teenagers. Gael has been able to change her hours to accommodate their needs over time.

Angela Crespin

Angela

Angela trained and registered as an Enrolled Nurse at Hutt Hospital in the late 70’s until leaving to start a family. She then worked as a swim instructor and became a professional swim coach for 14 years whilst raising her 3 boys. Angela returned to nursing in 1999 working in Wellington Hospital Main Outpatients Department covering Wellington, Kenepuru and Kapiti clinics mainly for neurosurgery, general surgery and vascular clinics.  Whilst working in these areas Angela found a passion for wound care and specialised in this area. In 2008 Angela joined Waikanae Health as a Clinical Support Nurse. She now works with the wound clinics, repeat prescriptions and warfarin management for our team of doctors. In her spare time Angela enjoys scrapbooking and loves to spend time outdoors in her garden.

Deb

Deb trained at Hutt hospital and graduated as a registered Nurse in 1981. She worked in various hospitals in the UK for 3 years whilst on a working holiday, returning to work in the Hastings Hospital Special Baby Unit for 5 years.Deb began her work in Primary Health Care in Wellington in 1997 and has continued working in various GP practices since then. She has recently settled on the Kapiti Coast.

Lynne Evans

Lynne - Nurse Manager  

Lynne is the Nurse Manager responsible for the nursing team of 12. She worked at Waikanae Health as a Practice Nurse from 1994 to 2002. Lynne’s long term goal to work in palliative care was realised in 2003 when she was fortunate to be employed by Mary Potter Hospice until 2006. During this time Lynne developed her leadership skills and undertook post graduate study gaining PG Cert in Palliative Care. In 2006 Lynne was approached by the Management of Waikanae Health to apply for the newly created position of Nurse Manager. This has been a challenging and hugely rewarding position which she enjoys every day.

Gail Foley

Gail

Gail is an experienced Practice Nurse since 1990 and has been at Waikanae Health since 2005. Her skills include all areas of General Practice including health promotion, chronic and acute health problems. Gail has a special interest in emergency care. She enjoys working with Nursing Students to whom we offer placements at times throughout the year. Gail maintains a high level of education to ensure that her practice remains current and she incorporates her academic studies into her daily role. Gail’s qualifications include NZRN Comprehensive, BN, PG Cert Health Sciences and Accredited Practice Nurse with Expert Endorsement.

Sue Glensor

Sue

Sue lives in Waikanae. Her nursing experience includes coronary and intensive care, rest home care and more recently occupational health, working in private enterprise companies and in injury prevention as an ACC programme manager. Sue has had breaks from nursing to set up and operate a cafe and to study fashion and design. Sue enjoys the beach environment, walking, swimming, fishing with family, biking, gardening and looking after the grandchildren. Sue enjoys working with all ages and in helping understand health issues such as diabetes. Sue works 4 days a week at Waikanae Health.

Sue Goodwin

Sue

Sue graduated from Wellington Hospital with a surgical endorsement in 1975 and worked for a short period in the Wellington Hospital Accident and Emergency Department. Moving back to the Hutt Valley, she was employed in the Hutt Hospital's ICU until moving out into the community as a District Nurse. In 1985 Sue moved to Wanganui and took up a position as a District Nurse in the then Wanganui Hospital Board. While in Wanganui, Sue also undertook casual duties as a Theatre Nurse at the local Southern Cross Hospital. Moving to Palmerston North in 1994, Sue continued with District Nursing in the Manawatu Horowhenua  area even after moving to the Kapiti Coast in 2005. Sue feels privileged to have worked at Waikanae Health since 2010 as a Clinical Support Nurse. Her duties at the Health Centre include wound care, INR’s, prescriptions and assisting the doctors with minor surgery and vasectomies. She has a special interest in Hospice and Palliative Care and also currently works on the Mobile Surgical bus in Kapiti. Sue lives in Paraparaumu with her husband Denis. They have 2 adult children. Outside of nursing she enjoys gardening (especially roses), quilting, reading and the occasional bike ride.

Linda

Linda grew up in Pukerua Bay and went to Kapiti College. She trained and worked as a Nurse at Wellington Hospital. Linda always felt drawn home to the Kapiti Coast, and after 5 years working in Malaysia, she returned home with her husband and settled in Otaihanga where they raised their 2 sons. Linda loves living in Otaihanga and enjoys good friendships, gardening, reading and keeping involved in our community. Linda joined Waikanae Health in December 2013.

Jean McMullan

Jean

Jean (RN Comp) has been a Practice Nurse since 1994 and has been at Waikanae Health since 2007. She is interested in all aspects of Nursing and is currently our Mobile Nurse going out into the community to care for our patients.

Zoe Tayler

Zoe

Zoe trained at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, England. She spent her first 2 years nursing in the Ophthalmology Department before moving on to District Nursing where she worked for 8 years. In November 2006 Zoe emigrated to New Zealand with her husband and 2 children. She has worked at Waikanae Health since then. Her special areas of interest are diabetes and Aclasta infusion. Zoe finds life busy with a young family but enjoys horse riding, running and reading in her spare time.  Zoe achieved Practice Nurse Accreditation in 2012.

Sara Willis

Sara

Sara (Registered Nurse) graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing  in 1995. She worked at Wellington Hospital for ten years, her specialty areas being Neuroscience and Coronary Care. Sara has worked in Primary Health Care since 2002. Her special areas of interest are travel medicine, childhood vaccinations and emergency triage. Sara has been at Waikanae Health since 2008 and achieved Practice Nurse Accreditation in 2011. Sara is focused on keeping our community well and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.

Leonie Wilson

Leonie

Leonie trained in Palmerston North and graduated in 1990. She worked in the South Island for 4 years, UK for 2 years and USA for 12 years doing various types of nursing which included both Adult and Paediatric. Leonie has been back in NZ and working at Waikanae Health since 2008.  Leonie achieved Practice Nurse Accreditation in 2012.
