Flu Vaccinations Have Arrived
From the 1st of April, our nurses are running dedicated Flu clinics at the little car park opposite countdown and next to Unichem Pharmacy
Eligibility criteria for Flu vaccine 2022
https://www.influenza.org.nz/eligibility-criteria
You can have your Flu vaccine anytime, regardless of when you had your Covid vaccination. As our borders were closed, we are expecting an increase of Influenza Type illnesses over the winter period and would highly recommend you getting your vaccine soon.
If you are not eligible for a fully funded one, the cost is $40
Notice on rudeness and action from Waikanae Health in future
We are once again living in trying times. After only 3 days of lockdown due to COVID; it is disappointing to hear that our staff are again suffering verbal abuse from patients.
We will no longer tolerate any rudeness, verbal or threats of physical violence to our staff.
The trigger for this unacceptable behaviour seems to be us having to rebook vaccines and appointments.
The Ministry of Health’s has imposed restrictions under COVID-19 Public Health Response Act (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 9) 2021 (19 August 2021)
Section 17 of the Act dictates number limits and social distancing requirements during Level 4 COVID lock-down. This has forced us to reduce the numbers of vaccinations we can offer by 50%.
We are simply rescheduling to comply with this legislation and the order from the Director General of Health.
Verbal abuse from patients caused four staff members to resign last year. We will not tolerate this a moment longer.
We have a responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure the safety of our employees.
Waikanae Health hereby give notice that we invoke the clause on unacceptable behaviour in our written agreements with patients. Any patient who abuses our staff will be dis-enrolled, and asked to leave our practice. Disagreements or unhappiness can be resolved in a civil manner, without resorting to abusing our staff.
Kapiti has a shortage of medical staff of all levels, and we are simply doing our best.
Please do not abuse those that are trying to help you.
Dr Herman van Kradenburg, Managing Partner, Waikanae Health
